Ball Tampering : ICC goes soft on the offenders

Srinivas Nyapathy Writes:: International Cricket Council goes very soft on offenders in the Australian ball tampering episode. Steve Smith Handed ONLY One Test Ban; Cameron Bancroft Handed 3 Demerit Points. So the ICC is telling the Cricket teams and their captains world wide, you and the leaders in the team can encourage your players to cheat other teams by stooping as low as to tampering a cricket ball..and bring the game to disrepute..and you will MISS JUST ONE TEST MATCH for that. It was also mentioned by Mr Pycroft of the ICC umpire’s panel, who proposed the penalities that “As a young player starting out in international cricket, I hope the lessons learned from this episode will strongly influence the way he plays the game during the rest of his career”.. The lesson you have taught him Mr Pycroft /ICC is .. it’s okay to try to cheat and win in International Cricket.. you will only receive few demerit points. This is a very dangerous message sent to the young cricketing minds the world over by none other than the International Cricket Council itself. We hear the story about how “The Ashes” came about by creating an urn by burning “bails” which someone thought is the best way to mark “the death of English Cricket” some 150 years ago, when they lost miserably to Australia. Now with ICC handling this episode so meekly, has in a way supported a team, which today, stands guilty of having killed the gentleman in this gentleman’s game. What shall we burn to mark this…? A ball, perhaps, in tune with this deplorable incident.
